WALK WITH MALAWI

Join us on our Walk with Malawi, going the distance to support Melita & her team with the funding for resources needed to fight the Corona Virus.

DID YOU KNOW?

There are 19 million people in Malawi. There is currently only the capacity to carry out 100 COVID-19 tests per day & experts believe as many as 85% of the population will get infected, resulting in an estimated 100,000 deaths. Most people live in single room homes with no running water or electricity, so a lockdown similar to the UK would lead to starvation.

WHAT DOES MY GIVING GO TO?

For Covid-19, Chira has tried to fill in the gaps in small ways which will not be covered by others. Some equipment has been bought, including soap dispensers, cotton gowns, masks & gloves. Extra staff have been taken on to maintain cleaning of equipment & premises. Refurbishments to the toilets & bathrooms are almost complete, alongside health & hygiene training delivered 3 times a day. Chira is supporting people however they can. Costs of transport & therefore staff is rising. Any money raised will go towards the amazing work they are doing their to combat the virus, from PPE to cost of staff.

WALK, GIVE & SHARE!

We'd love to help raise money for Chira by getting walking! Go for a walk, get a picture or video, let us know how far you went, give some money to the cause & then share on social media with the hashtag #walkwithmalawi - we'll keep track of the miles as we attempt to walk all 5,284 miles to Malawi! We need as much help as we can get to go the distance & raise as much as we can to support Malawi in their fight against COVID-19.
