SHARE Knowsley Christmas Message December 2018

On behalf of SHARe Knowsley, I would just like to thank you for your ongoing support.

The donations we have received from yourselves have been amazing - we have been overwhelmed by your kindness.

In September we started our English classes which have proved extremely popular - the class is full and the asylum seekers are able to attend because we can pay for transport costs -  all down to your generosity.

We have had the privilege to share in the good news of some of our clients - two families and two young men received refugee status, three families have been reunited and we have welcomed into our group 7 new babies, the latest being a baby boy born just two weeks ago. It has been so lovely to be part of their happiness and at this time of year we are reminded that Jesus and his family were themselves refugees for a time.

Unfortunately we have also been part of their sadness too - with some receiving refusals from the Home Office, some facing the prospect of homelessness, some receiving sad news from home and many just trying to cope with the legacy of the traumas they have been through whilst facing a very uncertain future. We can only walk alongside these people during their time of tribulation, offer our love and pray that they do not lose hope. Please keep them and all the volunteers in your prayers.

The volunteers are a fantastic team and it is an honour and privilege to work alongside them.

Thank you again for all your support and I would like to wish you all a very Happy and Blessed Christmas.

Margaret Roche

Safe Spaces

Safe Spaces is a free and independent support service, providing a confidential, personal and safe space for anyone who has been abused through their relationship with either the Church of England, Church in Wales or the Catholic Church of England and Wales.

Safe Spaces comprises a team of trained support advocates, who have undergone specialist training in supporting survivors of sexual violence and who have received additional specific training in how the churches respond to abuse cases, the way in which faith and church-related settings have been used to carry out abuse, and the particular issues affecting people who have had or still have, a relationship with the church.

The service is for those who may have experienced any form of abuse, including sexual abuse, physical abuse, financial abuse, psychological abuse (including spiritual abuse), domestic abuse, coercive and controlling behaviour.
